Sledder Magazine is a big online magazine website, featuring multiple authors, photographers, and post styles. It's a hugely popular website with the snowmobile community in Golden BC, and provides a lot of gear reviews, tips and tricks, and articles about the sport.
To create a publishing platform that can handle various types of articles like regular posts, video posts or gear reviews. The website should be Google DFP enabled so that advertisers can place ads throughout the site in general, and create page takeovers specifically. Finally, the website required a Destinations section with business listings and things to do as unique content types.
We created a custom theme for WordPress. Since this was a redesign, a lot of care was taken to import existing content into the new theme. A particular challenge was the Post Builder we build for SledderMag's articles - each article is comprised of multiple block-like components which when combined together give each article a wide range of looks, while keeping it easy for the writers to use. Incorporating Google's DFP was also a fun challenge, identifying advertising placements and inventory, while allowing for some custom page-takeover style promotions.
